This is what year? And there remain some still unclear? I am shocked! Not really. I am not shocked. I have been around more decades than some prison sentences, and I long ago ceased to be surprised. Or impressed.

Rep. Gohmert: ‘Violations of American Rights’ of Jan. 6 Prisoners ‘Mind Blowing’

Jan. 6 prisoner’s fiancé recalls: ‘We were covered head to toe from all directions with red laser dots from their assault rifles’

At a June 15 press conference in Washington, three GOP representatives joined forces with the Patriot Freedom Project and family members of Jan. 6 prisoners to call out the injustice and denial of due process rights for those incarcerated. According to Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), the “violations of American rights” is “mind-blowing.”

“We are extremely concerned to see a Department of Justice, not about justice,” Gohmert said at the press conference. “It’s about vengeance. It’s about intimidation and the tactics that we’ve been seeing from this DOJ and the disregard for rights coming out of investigations showing the FBI lied, intel lied. The DOJ lies. It ought to concern every single American.”

“As a former felony judge and chief justice, it’s particularly mind-blowing for me during a time when we should have the most fair courts in our history. We have more violations of American’s rights than even under the Hoover FBI,” Gohmert told The Epoch Times in a June 22 interview. “It’s just incredible. People that have been nominated and confirmed by the Senate as federal judges, granting warrants that don’t specify with any particularity—as the Constitution requires—what they’re for. What’s worse, when they find out they were lied to under oath by DOJ. But they’re not really bothered. They don’t do anything about it. For heaven’s sake. Have respect for your position if you have no respect for yourself.”

Also in attendance were Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.).

According to Cynthia Hughes, founder of the Patriot Freedom Project, the press conference was “a great day.”

“We finally got some support from people in congress, which we needed,” Hughes told The Epoch Times. “We are feeling powerful and strong.”

Hughes also said she was glad to finally have the opportunity to “personally call out [Rep.] Liz Cheney and know that she could possibly hear about that.”

“Things are finally moving,” Hughes said. “I think we moved the needle. I just looked at representatives and the incredible women around me and I think we felt more hope than we ever have in almost 18 months now. It was a good thing.”

Family Members Speak

Following the press conference, The Epoch Times was able to speak with each of the family members to learn the stories of their loved ones they say the rest of the media refuses to tell. They want the American people to learn about the citizens their government has locked away in prison.

To which I feel the need to respond: “boohoo.” Because this comes across as a bunch of cry babies who had their hands slapped.

This is from The Epoch Times, which entity sends me regular email. And for that I am most appreciative.

To sum it up, a bunch of self-righteous zealots armed themselves up last year and laid an assault on the Capitol, aiming to thwart the operation of the government. Do the words coup d’etat ring a bell? Also there were calls for the murder of our second highest elected official. See the image above.

Look at that image. Those people are you, baby cakes. And now that you have been caught you are complaining about subversion of justice? Pardon me while I pause for a moment to give a big horse laugh.

There is more. A number of people are referenced in the Epoch Times article. Let’s take a look.

  • Louie Gohmert
  • Marjorie Taylor Greene
  • Andy Biggs

You know what? If my intention was to dress up my pitch with some prominent names, these are not the names I would be looking for. The very inclusion of these people would by itself be enough to sink any campaign, let alone a knee capper such as this one.

Abusing Science

Number 112 of a series

Texas Congressman Louis Gohmert, representing District 1, has taken a number of screwball positions in the past. For example he  once supported “violence in the streets’ after judge rejects bid to force VP Pence to overturn Biden’s win.” He has been noticeable in his rejection of the science related to climate change. We can hope he never completely  abandons reality. Oops!

Gohmert asks if federal agencies can change Earth’s or moon’s orbits to fight climate change

BY JOSEPH CHOI – 06/09/21 12:45 PM EDT

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) on Tuesday asked a representative from the U.S. Forest Service if it was possible to alter the orbit of the moon or the Earth as a way of combating climate change, though it was unclear if he was being serious.

Gohmert was speaking with Jennifer Eberlien, associate deputy chief of the National Forest System, during a House Natural Resources Committee hearing.

“I understand from what’s been testified to the Forest Service and the BLM [Bureau of Land Management], you want very much to work on the issue of climate change,” Gohmert said to Eberlien, adding that a past director of NASA had once told him that orbits of the moon and the Earth were changing.

“Is there anything that the National Forest Service, or BLM can do to change the course of the moon’s orbit or the Earth’s orbit around the sun?” Gohmert asked Eberlien. “Obviously they would have profound effects on our climate.”

Wait. WAIT! Did Louis Gohmert just acknowledge climate change might be happening? Glory to the Lord. Some light is seeping through. But he was kidding, right? I mean about changing orbits of planetary bodies. He had to be pulling some serious leg here. Pushing this kind of nonsense would not be merely abusing science. It would be a gross insult to human intellect. Tell me he was not serious. Please.

OH MY GOD!

Congressman, it’s time for you to come home now. You have embarrassed us long enough.

Gohmert suggests ‘violence in the streets’ after judge rejects bid to force VP Pence to overturn Biden’s win

Appeals court upholds ruling by Trump-appointed judge that East Texas congressman lacks standing to alter rules for Electoral College ratification in Congress.

Updated at 8 p.m. with appeals court siding against Gohmert.

East Texas congressman Louie Gohmert suggested that “violence in the streets” may be the only remaining option to block Joe Biden from becoming president, after a federal judge rejected his lawsuit aiming to force Vice President Mike Pence to overturn the election.

U.S. District Judge Jeremy Kernodle, an appointee of President Donald Trump from Gohmert’s hometown of Tyler, threw out the lawsuit late Friday, ruling that he and other plaintiffs — including the GOP chairwoman in Arizona and that state’s defeated slate of Republican electors — lack standing. Late Saturday, a federal appeals court upheld the ruling.

Congressman Gohmert, as many will recall, has embarrassed many times before. For example:

According to Gohmert, “When [the caribou] want to go on a date, they invite each other to head over to the pipeline. So [his] real concern now [is] … if oil stops running through the pipeline … do we need a study to see how adversely the caribou would be affected if that warm oil ever quit flowing?” Gohmert’s comments were not favorably received by the rest of the committee.

Louie Gohmert represents Texas District 1. Apparently his level of intellect appeals to those in the northeast corner of Texas.

And may Jesus have mercy on our souls.

Wacko Come Home

Texas' own

Texas’ own

I keep telling myself, “I can stop any time.” Really, I can. But before I do, just this one more:

Mocking non-believers for failing to grasp the logic behind the existence of God, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) cited an exchange with the late Texas entertainer Bob Murphey to disprove atheism during a prayer rally in Washington, D.C. Wednesday.

“Bob Murphey used to say, ‘You know, I feel so bad for atheists, I do,’” Gohmert recalled at “Celebrate America,” a three-week-long revival event. “‘Think about it, no matter how smart they think they are, an atheist has to admit that he believes the equation: nobody plus nothing equals everything.’”

“How embarrassing for an intellectual to have to say ‘Yeah, I believe that,'” Gohmert said, citing Murphey. “Nobody plus nothing equals everything.”

Gohmert delivered his final point to a chorus of applause as he concluded, “You couldn’t get everything unless there was something that was the creator of everything and that’s the Lord we know.” Gohmert did not elaborate on how he leapt from something to nothing to everything to the “Lord we know” rather than to, say, a Flying Spaghetti Monster. Gohmert also neglected to explain who would have created the Lord he knows, or whether the Lord created Himself before He existed.

I want readers to take a step back and look at this exchange through a wide angle lens:

  • An elected official representing voters from a major state is using this argument.
  • Grown people, people who can drive cars and vote, are eating it up.

Where’s my bunker? The zombie apocalypse has already started.

But wait. Maybe it’s not the zombie apocalypse after all. Maybe it’s just stupid people being stupid. Let’s start with the wisdom of Texas’ own Congressman Louie Gohmert of District 1. Casey Michel of the Houston Post has honored us with a snapshot:

  • So when [caribou] want to go on a date, they invite each other to head over to the pipeline. … So my real concern now [is] if oil stops running through the pipeline … do we need a study to see how adversely the caribou would be affected if that warm oil ever quit flowing?
  • [Regarding the shooting rampage in Aurora, Colorado] You know what really gets me, as a Christian, is to see the ongoing attacks on Judeo-Christian beliefs, and then some senseless crazy act of terror like this takes place. … We’ve threatened high school graduation participations, if they use God’s name, they’re going to be jailed … I mean that kind of stuff. Where was God? What have we done with God? We don’t want him around. I kind of like his protective hand being present.
  • [N]ominating Florida Rep. Allen West as Speaker of the House … after West had already lost his reelection bid.
  • This administration has so many Muslim Brotherhood members that have influence that they just are making wrong decisions for America.
  • [Terror babies] [The children] could be raised and coddled as future terrorists [and] twenty, thirty years down the road, they can be sent in to help destroy our way of life.

I have previously noted the undeniable fact that Oklahoma fosters its home grown wacko just to make Texas look good. The problem with that ploy is that excess wacko keeps filtering south across the Red River.

Keep trying, Oklahoma. We need all the help we can get.

And may Jesus have mercy on our souls.

Wacko Come Home

Like wacko never left.

Regarding wacko close to home, our greatest treasure is currently Congressman Louie Gohmert, representing Texas District 1. In a pinch I can always count on the congressman for fresh material. Here’s what popped up recently on the Addicting Info blog:

Louie Gohmert Claims President Obama Is Allowing Refugee Immigrants To Rape Thousands Of American Women (VIDEO)

Tea Party Rep. Louie Gohmert accused President Obama on the House floor of allowing refugee immigrants to rape thousands of American women.

Yes, it’s a video, so you’re going to have to watch it to get the full story. What the video reveals is that Gohmert is accusing the President of allowing alien criminals to assault American women (thousands). He does not actually say that President Obama is telling these guys, “There are those women over there, go rape them.” What Gohmert is saying is that the Obama administration is lax in enforcing immigration laws, and as a result all these assaults by illegal aliens are taking place. You really need to watch the video to get the flavor of the Real Gohmert.

The Fact Check site provides an additional view. Example 1:

Gohmert: We have had continued reports, really blatant, going after military members, crosses being removed from chapels.

k. Symbols. The chapel environment will be religiously neutral when the facility is not being used for scheduled worship. Portable religious symbols, icons, or statues may be used within a chapel during times of religious worship. Symbols are to be moved or covered when not in use during services. Distinctive religious symbols, such as crosses, crucifixes, the Star of David, Menorah, and other religious symbols will not be affixed or displayed permanently on the chapel interior, exterior, or grounds. Permanent or fixed chapel furnishings, such as the altar, pulpit, lectern, or communion rail will be devoid of distinctive religious symbols.
What Congressman Gohmert seems to be saying is that the United States Armed Forces, under the command of President Obama, are obeying Army regulations. Maybe we should consider impeachment.
Now you’re going to say that all of this does not rise to the level of wacko. So, you want wacko? I’ll show you wacko. Come out to the garden:
Gohmert stated in a House Judiciary Hearing on May 15, 2013, that he believed the FBI did not act with due diligence concerning alleged bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev. His contention was that the FBI was more interested in Christian groups such as those led by Billy and Franklin Graham than in groups that might be considered less politically correct to target. Attorney General Eric Holder responded to his claims: “The only observation I was going to make is that you state as a matter of fact what the FBI did and did not do. Unless somebody has done something inappropriate, you don’t have access to the FBI files,” said Holder. “I know what the FBI did. You cannot know what I know. That’s all.” Gohmert objected to this on the grounds that Holder had “challenge[d]” his character. After several attempts to inject his viewpoint as a point of personal privilege Gohmert stated: “The attorney general will not cast aspersions on my asparagus”.
[Some links removed]
Now, that’s what I call wacko.
Beyond that, some of what the gift that keeps on giving gives us makes for interesting reading. Here is another item from Fact Check:
Gohmert: And so, we hear constant reports from the military. We’re not supposed to hand anybody a Bible. At Walter Reed, you’re not supposed to bring anybody a Bible. It’s considered an act of hostility if you give somebody a Bible on their death bed or mention God or try to help them even if they’re seeking guidance at the end of their life.
Gohmert’s assertion dims somewhat in light of some additional information. This is from Army Times:

A section of the guidelines designed to protect patients from proselytizers was rescinded last week after Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, discussed it on the House floor, asserting it violated the First Amendment protecting free exercise of religion.

The guidelines, signed by Walter Reed-Bethesda’s chief of staff Army Col. Charles Callahan, stated that “No religious items, (i.e. Bibles, reading materials and/or facts) are allowed to be given away or used during a visit.”

The intent was to respect patients’ religious practices and preserve their privacy, explained hospital spokeswoman Sandy Dean. She said patients often are visited by volunteers from benevolent organizations as well as strangers, ranging from celebrities, politicians and well-meaning VIPs, and the guidelines were developed to respect patients’ own beliefs.

At the very least Congressman Gohmert has issues with reading comprehension. At most he is leaning toward wacko.
And that about wraps it up with Congressman Louie Gohmert from Texas District 1. He’s a little odd at times, but surely harmless.

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) took to the House floor Wednesday for a speech on the Obama administration’s Israel policy, using the Bible for guidance.

“There are many who have been aware of Scripture, and it has often been a guide in our relations with Israel,” Gohmert said. “Some of us believe that the Bible is accurate. Certainly, so many prophesies have been fulfilled, and if that is true, this administration, unless they can find a verse that accurately says that those who betray Israel will be blessed, then this country is being dug in a deeper hole by this administration, and its betrayals of Israel’s trust and Israel’s friendship.”

Congressman Louie Gohmert from Texas District 1 wants to use a ~3000-year-old manuscript written by some desert tribesmen as a guide to setting United States foreign policy?

On closing, I apologize if you missed the Kingston Trio allusion.

And may Jesus have mercy on our souls.

Is There No Shame?

Today started out drab for me. Then dawned the light:

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) on Tuesday grilled a pastor who supports the separation of church and state, asking him why he did not share the “good news” that non-Christians were going to Hell.

Wait! Why am I laughing. This guy is from Texas.

SkyCreature

From a Facebook posting

Let’s talk about “crazy.”

Louie Gohmert of Tyler, Texas, represents the Texas 1st Congressional District. The episode described above took place Tuesday this week at a House Judiciary Committee hearing, and the “pastor” in question was the Reverend Barry Lynn with the United Church of Christ. Since 1992 he has been executive director of Americans United for the Separation of Church and State.

Before I get further into the details let me lay out the situation. This is the Congress of the United States. This was in a building owned and operated by the federal government at taxpayer expense. These congressmen are employees of the United States government, and they were receiving their salaries for their participation in this conference. More specifically, these are all grownups and are not under a doctor’s care.

That said…

Lynn pointed out that he had received the Medal of Freedom from the Roosevelt Institute for his work supporting the freedom to worship.

“But that wasn’t awarded by Roosevelt himself?” Gohmert interrupted, before asking if the pastor understood that the “meaning” of being a Christian was to evangelize.

Did a member of the United States Congress actually say that? Oh, Jesus. It gets worse:

“So, you do not believe somebody would go to Hell if they do not believe Jesus is the way, the truth, the life?” Gohmert pressed.

The pastor argued that people would not got to Hell for believing a “set of ideas.”

“No, not a set of ideas. Either you believe as a Christian that Jesus is the way, the truth, or life or you don’t,” Gohmert shot back. “And there’s nothing wrong in our country with that — there’s no crime, there’s no shame.”

Unfortunately, there is shame, and it’s on us. On the people of Texas, that is. More specifically on the people of the First Congressional District.

May Jesus have mercy on their souls.
