Breathtaking Inanity

Number 27 of a continuing series

Yes, a lot of the stuff that comes my way will take your breath away. Here’s something new from Elise Stefanik, representing New York’s District 21:

Fellow Conservative,

If you have watched any of the impeachment hearings, seen President Trump’s twitter feed, or seen the far-Left talking heads melt down on television over the past few days – then you know who I am.I am Rep. Elise Stefanik and I am a 35-year-old Republican Congresswoman standing between the Democrats and our American Democracy.

The House Democrats are trying to cover up the truth about President Trump from the American people! During this week’s first public impeachment hearings after weeks of secret meetings and depositions, Chairman Adam Schiff continuously interrupted and tried to block Republican members from asking questions.

The Leftist Democrats don’t want us to ask questions because they don’t want the American people to hear the answers: They know that their entire impeachment inquiry is based on lies and secrecy!

Far-left Democrats are pouring money into my district to defeat me, you, and President Trump. Donate NOW to stand up with me for our President and our country.

Adam Schiff’s abuse of power is vile and disgusting! He is hijacking the impeachment proceedings and trying to take down President Trump by preventing Republicans from revealing the truth about the Democrats’ failing impeachment inquiry.

The Leftist Democrats know that America wants another four years for President Trump, and now they’re trying to overturn the will of the American people by hiding the facts.

I was the first Member to call out Adam Schiff for having secret access to the whistleblower without notifying the Intel Committee. He is the only Member whose staff coordinated directly with the whistleblower, whose lawyer has been calling for a “coup” against the President of the United States since President Trump’s first day in office. We will not allow the Leftist Democrats to subvert the will of the people and destroy our American values!

First notice Congresswoman Stefanik does not know my name. She addresses me as “Fellow Conservative.” Maybe it would have been better if she knew my name. But she does have my email address, and with good reason. I have given it out to any number of conservative outlets, including Republicans in office. They say what goes around comes around. Apparently that is a true statement, one of the few floating around.

There is much to unload here. Start with this. “If you have watched any of the impeachment hearings, seen President Trump’s twitter feed, or seen the far-Left talking heads melt down on television over the past few days – then you know who I am.” Actually, we have seen far-left talking heads melt down, particularly concerning this tweet from the President of the United States.

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrumpEverywhere Marie Yovanovitch went turned bad. She started off in Somalia, how did that go? Then fast forward to Ukraine, where the new Ukrainian President spoke unfavorably about her in my second phone call with him. It is a U.S. President’s absolute right to appoint ambassadors.

Yes, that is President Donald Trump, the person you shill for, denigrating a witness while she is testifying before a congressional committee. This was a hearing where you participated, representing the Republican Party. Following the testimony of this witness, she departed the hearing to a standing ovation delivered by Democrats and Republicans. After lauding Ambassador Yovanovitch during your allotted time, you also stood and applauded her. Now I read your email, and I begin to wonder. What kind of double speak is going on here?

Also, this: “I am Rep. Elise Stefanik and I am a 35-year-old Republican Congresswoman standing between the Democrats and our American Democracy.” Correction; you are a 35-year-old Republican Congresswoman standing between a criminal president and any manner of justice—just to be clear on that matter.

Hey! The beat goes on: “The House Democrats are trying to cover up the truth about President Trump from the American people! During this week’s first public impeachment hearings after weeks of secret meetings and depositions, Chairman Adam Schiff continuously interrupted and tried to block Republican members from asking questions.” First of all, it appeared the Republican Party, during the two years it had control of both the House and the Senate, sat on the truth while the President of the United States engaged in a level of criminality unseen in that office for decades, if ever. The “secret meetings and depositions” were attended by Republican and Democratic members of the House.  I am hoping my private life is never that secret. Lady, you have been in Congress for how long? And you noticed during that time the practice in these hearings is that each speaker is allotted something like five minutes to ask questions (or to piss off their allocated time making speeches), and when that time is up the chairman (Adam Schiff) cuts them off. You noticed that? No? Where have you been?

Ugh on this: “The Leftist Democrats don’t want us to ask questions because they don’t want the American people to hear the answers: They know that their entire impeachment inquiry is based on lies and secrecy!” And when you had the opportunity to ask questions, you used that time to make statements and to complain:

When Stefanik was given time to question Yovanovitch, she instead accused Schiff of “duplicity and abuse of power” in his handling of the impeachment inquiry.

Stefanik accused Schiff of failing to keep a promise to allow the whistleblower who sparked the inquiry to testify before the committee. Schiff decided against it, saying he wants to protect the whistleblower’s personal safety.

“Based on lies and secrecy?”

That should do it for the “lies and secrecy” malarkey. We have a president who forbids witnesses to testify. When the President’s people, who have firsthand knowledge of what’s been going on, are allowed to come forward and testify, then we can talk about “lies and secrecy.”

Somewhere there must be a legal limit to how much fun I am allowed to have with comical conservatives, so I will shut this monologue down. Shut it down, that is, until something equally or more ridiculous comes my way.

Congresswoman Stefanik, we thank you for your service. Seldom has breathtaking inanity been so well illustrated.
