Friends of mine like to remind me that we are safer now that more people are allowed to own and carry handguns. It’s interesting to see how that’s working out:

A 78-year-old York County woman was shot early Saturday morning after she was mistaken for an intruder by a 78-year-old man, according to state police.
The incident took place just after 3:30 a.m. at a home along the 300 block of West Maple Avenue in Red Lion, police said.
The victim, identified as Joan Reichard, was shot once in the chest and is listed in stable condition at York Hospital, police said.
I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling safer already.
