The Golden Shower

Something interesting

Hey, Kelly-Anne, what’s your game now?
Can anybody play?

[With apologies to the Hollies]

ABC World News Tonight with David Muir yesterday featured a clip (borrowed from MSNBC) of presidential advisor Kellyanne Conway doing what she does best, and what she does best is being glib and verbally quick. As mentioned previously, sometimes verbally quick translates into verbally stranded:

More recently Conway felt it necessary to explain away the President’s bizarre mechanizations with respect to immigration from predominately Muslim countries. She famously explained:

On February 2, 2017, Conway appeared in a television news show interview on Hardball with Chris Matthews. In order to justify President Trump’s immigration ban, she referenced an event allegedly perpetrated by Iraqi terrorists she termed the “Bowling Green massacre“.

Yeah, you guessed it. There was no Bowling Green Massacre. Yesterday glib struck again. From the video:

Conway: “Yes, General Flynn does enjoy the full confidence of the president.”

That was Kellyanne Conway reassuring viewers that, despite having an inappropriate exchange with the Russian ambassador and subsequently lying to (now) Vice President Mike Spence, retired General Michael Flynn retains “the full confidence of the president.” It was shortly after she made that statement that General Flynn resigned his post as National Security Advisor.

It now remains to  be seen how long Kellyanne Conway keeps her job at the White House. So far:

  • She has labeled the truth as “alternative fact.”
  • She embarrassingly misspoke regarding a non-existent Bowling Green Massacre, twice.
  • Then she told the world that General Flynn had the President’s 100% support, at the very moment that president was looking for a way to safely fire the general.

The problem is this. It became a long time ago impossible to  embarrass President Trump. What we have here is a Schlemiel-in-Chief bent on self-immolation, at the same time possessing of the thinest of skins observed in my lifetime. It is a question of who gives in first. Kellyanne Conway may, as a route to self-preservation, bail at the most convenient opportunity. “Spend more time with my family,” is the standard exit line.

As this goes on, developments continue to unfold. From CNN this morning:

Flynn’s resignation doesn’t end controversy surrounding White House

Washington (CNN) — Michael Flynn’s resignation as national security adviser removes an immediate political headache for the White House but will do little to dispel suspicions about his ties with Russia that now threaten to envelop President Donald Trump’s nascent administration.

How come there’s never a Pee Pee Tape around when you need one?
